Meaning "good view" in Portuguese, the third largest island, Boa Vista was discovered in 1460. The closest island to Africa (445km west of Senegal), Boa Vista is an island paradise ringed by reefs and home to 60% of Cape Verde's beaches including it's longest beach at 18km. The island is known as a hot spot for marine turtles and for its traditional music.
