A new awards programme focused on self-employed and brokerage-based estate agents has opened for nominations, with the inaugural Personal Estate Agency Awards scheduled for October 2026.
The programme targets estate and lettings professionals operating within brokerage models, a sector that has expanded in recent years as more agents move away from traditional high street agency structures.
Award structure and timeline
Nominations are open until 31 July 2026, with the ceremony scheduled for 22 October 2026 at Edgbaston Park Hotel in Birmingham. Entry is free for individuals, colleagues, brokerage firms and teams.
Categories will cover estate agency, lettings, customer service, marketing, social media, community engagement and emerging talent. An independent judging panel will assess entries, drawn from compliance, recruitment, sales progression, coaching and PropTech sectors.
The growth of brokerage models reflects broader changes in the property sector, where traditional agency structures have evolved alongside shifts in how agents operate and generate income.
Industry context
Chris Webb, founder of The Estate Agent Consultancy and creator of the awards, said: “The personal estate agency sector has grown significantly over recent years, yet there has never been an awards programme dedicated solely to recognising the people and businesses operating within it.”
He added that the judging process would be “credible, fair and focused entirely on recognising genuine excellence” through independent assessment against published criteria.
The launch comes as the property sector continues to adapt to changing business models, with self-employed agents increasingly choosing brokerage arrangements over traditional employment structures. This shift has occurred alongside other market developments, including regional variations in buy-to-let demand and evolving regulatory frameworks.
The awards represent the first dedicated recognition programme for this segment of the UK estate agency market, which operates distinct from conventional high street agencies.
