New chief operating officer for Spicerhaart

The 47 year old Politics graduate, who until recently was the Global Head of Consulting for Gerson Lehrman Group, will assume board responsibility for Valunation, the national valuation service provider, together with Spicerhaart Corporate Sales, Spicerhaart’s rapidly expanding corporate sales division.

He will also in his capacity as COO oversee Spicerhaart’s on going acquisitions programme, and is currently working with the board to identify strategic targets, primarily in London and the South East.

Spicerhaart has made a series of acquisitions in recent months including Thomson Currie in Islington, Brooks in Stoke Newington and Barons in Bristol. It has bought nearly a dozen businesses nationally in the last year.

A life long exponent of CPD, Martin began his professional career with Diageo before progressing to BHS and Cearns and Brown. More recently, he held the role of Managing Director with DSGi Business.

“I am absolutely delighted to have joined the Spicerhaart Group as Chief Operating Officer and look forward to helping to build a great long-term business that is profitable, sustainable and a clear market leader in terms of business and people development within the UK property services sector,” said Martin Dorchester.

Adds Paul Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Spicerhaart: “Martin brings a wealth of experience with him to Spicerhaart that I believe will be hugely beneficial for the group in terms of achieving its overall aims and objectives.”

A father of three, Martin will divide his time between his family home on the East Coast of Scotland, where he works as a volunteer for his local mountain rescue, and the Spicerhaart headquarters in Colchester.
