The Estates at Montgomerie Links consists of 54 luxury villas located between Hoi An and Da Nang on the Heritage Coast. It is 20 minutes from Da Nang international airport with views of the Marble Mountains and close to the South China Sea.
The villas face the links style course which will have 18 holes upon completion, nine of which are expected to be finished by the end of 2008.
CB Richard Ellis Vietnam Co. Ltd. and Indochina Land are planning release of the second phase of villas for the middle of the second quarter of 2008.
The flagship golf course is a big draw. Montgomerie designed courses already exist in Dubai, Wales and Ireland. It will cater for players of all abilities.
'It is memorable and challenging golf with an unique flavour and I can promise a golf experience not to be missed,' said Montgomerie. He uses his vast experience of courses played around the world during his career and in particular his Scottish roots for his designs. He believes in working with the natural contours of the land and ensuring, as with the great Scottish designs, nature is not tampered with unecessarily.
'Golf should always be a challenge and a golfer, whether amateur or professional, must be made to achieve every round played. Nevertheless, above all else, golf should be enjoyable,' added Montgomery.
The course will use the same turf on the tees, fairways and greens as it can be mowed to different degrees. The Paspalum turf is hailed as 'fantastic' by Montgomerie.
The golfer's design company is also working on courses in Scotland, Bahrain, Turkey and the Caribbean.
According to Asia specialist Susan Barlin, Vietnam is one of the next property hotspots. 'It has no way to go but up. Fortune 500 companies are already doing business in the country which is growing at a rapid rate,' she said. 'The success of the bigger companies will spill over to the smaller investors.'
