Budget 2020: government to pledge £643m to help rough sleepers

The government will pledge £643m towards ending rough sleeping in Wednesday’s Budget.

Some £144m will go towards for general support services, including access to training, £262m will be for substance misuse recovery services, and £237m will fund new accommodation.

The government said the funding boost should help up to 6,000 rough sleepers with the accommodation and services.

The substance misuse recovery services are expected to help over 10,000 people a year.

The Budget announcement will be on Wednesday 11 March at around 12:30 GMT.
