Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to relocate from the United States to a private residence outside London later this month, with property professionals predicting the Cotswolds or Northamptonshire as the most likely locations.
The move, first reported by The Daily Telegraph and The Sun, will see the couple establish a non-royal residence in the UK. King Charles was informed of the decision on Sunday, though there are no current plans for either to resume working royal duties.
Location predictions
Trevor Abrahmsohn, managing director of Glentree International, has identified the Cotswolds as the most probable location for the couple’s new home.
“Harry and Meghan are choosing to come back to Britain, and my best guess about where they will live would be the Cotswolds,” Abrahmsohn said. “This is within easy proximity to Highgrove, where the King and Queen openly entertain them.”
Northamptonshire presents an alternative option, according to Abrahmsohn, due to its proximity to Althorp, the ancestral estate of Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother. The region has been increasingly referred to as the “Notswolds” within property circles.
Regional property market context
Both the Cotswolds and Northamptonshire have established themselves as destinations for high-profile residents, including television presenter Jeremy Clarkson and the Beckham family. The regions have seen sustained interest from buyers seeking privacy and access to private education, though broader property market trends show varying patterns across different segments.
The couple’s children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are enrolled to begin at a British school in September. Both counties offer preparatory schools that typically serve as feeder institutions to establishments such as Eton College and Wycombe Abbey.
The relocation comes as the UK property market experiences shifts across different price brackets, with buyer activity showing mixed patterns in recent months. The choice of location by high-profile individuals often influences local market dynamics, though the extent of any impact remains to be seen.
