People are travelling hundreds of miles to view homes, prompting estate agents to raise concerns about people being too reckless about the lockdown, the BBC reports.
While the housing market has been allowed to stay open during lockdown 2, the government has advised for initial viewings to be conducted virtually “wherever possible”.
One unnamed Yorkshire estate agent is quoted as saying colleagues are “ready for a complete nervous breakdown” because they are repeatedly asked to book in-person viewings.
She went on to say that people are travelling hundreds of miles to look at properties “because they can”, while some “don’t social distance”.
Paul Le Bas, who runs an estate agency in Hayle, Cornwall, reckons the government should ask people not to travel to estate agents outside their local areas for non-essential purposes.
