Balkans property week seeks to boost interest

Balkan Property Week, which starts on April 14th in Sofia, will not just give an overview of current and future trends but attempt to revive interest in residential and holiday real estate.

There are concerns from Industry Watch analysts over a decline in interest in the residential sector but business space, in particular offices and warehouses, are gaining ground. British and Irish buyers have been ebbing away, however.

A number of retail and office projects including eight large mall projects are to be highlighted at the 2008 Balkan Property Exhibition (Balpex), to be held from between April 18 and April 20 in Sofia at the Inter Expo Centre.

Colliers International consultants and PricewaterhouseCoopers, are organising the second Balkan Real Estate Conference (Balrec) on April 15-16 at Kempinski Hotel Zografski, which will focus on business opportunities offered by the property markets in Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.

There will be panel discussions with invited speakers representing the major industry players in the region, such as Trigranit, Federal Development, DTZ, Engel East Europe, Prologis, Invest Macedonia, MSI Developments, Colliers International, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Forton International, Unicredit, Tishman International, Immo Industry Group, Address, RE/Max Chance 69, Bulgaria Land Development, and ACR Hotel Experts.

Apart from the commercial and office developments, Balpex will present a wide gamut of residential developments in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and other cities, as well as holiday real estate – mountain, seaside and spa in popular locations like Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo, Banya, Velingrad, Sandanski, Pomorie and Kavarna among others.

Some of the biggest projects include Residential Park Sofia, Modera Residence, Roslin Park, Panorama City (Galata, Varna), Borovetz Gardens, Aparthotel "Lucky Bansko", Saint Toma holiday village and Riverside village.

Balpex will also stage the premiere of one of the largest industrial parks on the Balkans – Industrial Park Sofia, located in Bozhourishte municipality on a 100 ha spread.
