First homes take shape at new housing development in Wingerworth

The first selection of homes at a housing development in Wingerworth will be released for sale in the new year, with construction well underway on site.

Ashberry Homes is building 80 new homes at Mill Fields, off Mill Lane, Wingerworth, including 12 homes to be provided as affordable housing for local people.

Steve Smith, sales manager for Ashberry Homes East Midlands, said: “Mill Fields is set to be a sought-after development of homes that will appeal to first-time-buyers, families and professionals, due to its great location and excellent commuter links including the A61 for Chesterfield and Sheffield.

“As part of the scheme, Ashberry Homes is also investing in the local area with almost £500,000 in financial contributions, which will help to upgrade existing infrastructure in Wingerworth and support the growth of the village.

“Additionally, we are building a new car park and storage facility at the site for the use of visitors to Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s neighbouring The Avenue Washlands nature reserve, to ensure we create a lasting legacy for the next generation of residents in Wingerworth.”

The first houses to be available to reserve will be a mix of three and four-bedroom designs. Ashberry Homes will also open a showhome at Mill Fields when the development launches in January.

Ashberry Homes’ contributions for Mill Fields include £227,000 for local schools, £152,000 for local roads and £100,000 towards off-site play areas.

Smith added:: “As construction work continues to progress at Mill Fields, we are looking forward to launching the site and releasing the first selection of new homes for sale.

“Buyers will be able to book an appointment to visit the development in January, with all meetings to take place in line with coronavirus guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our staff and visitors at all times.”
