Lloyds to build Cardiff tower

Lloyds Living has started building 31-storey tower in Cardiff after acquiring Guildford Crescent from construction group Galliford Try.

The development will provide 140 one-bedroom and 132 two-bedroom apartments, as well as retail unit space.

Construction has already started, while the development is set to be completed in summer 2026.

Andy Hutchinson, chief executive of Lloyds Living, said: “There is a shortage of homes of all types across the country and, by working with developers like Galliford Try to identify locations in areas of need, we hope to help close the gap sooner.

“Our new Guildford Crescent site will offer high quality homes that meet the needs of modern city living, allowing more people to live and work where they want.”

Located close to the Principality Stadium, the new homes will offer easy access to local amenities including Bute Park, Cardiff Central station, and retail and leisure facilities at St David’s Centre, Atlantic Wharf and Cardiff Bay.

Residents will benefit from a gym, bike storage, lounge and game areas as well as external roof terraces.

Built to take advantage of the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), the building will be powered in part by roof-top solar panels.

Lloyds Living, formerly Citra Living, is part of Lloyds Banking Group, while it has over 5,000 homes in its portfolio, over half of which are constructed and occupied.
