Demand for Anchor Marina is expected to be so high that developer and management company Island Global Yachting is setting up an on-line site to lease berths to owners and residents of Palm Jumeirah.
The first tier of berths will be auctioned during a week long auction from November 1st to 9th. 'We decided that this is the most transparent and fair way of launching the berths,' said Michael Horrigan, CEO Middle East and Europe for IGY.
'The marina will propel Dubai onto the global stage as a yachting destination of choice. We know that demand will be high so we decided to look at new ways of leasing its berths to ensure a level playing field for interested parties,' he explained.
The marina's 590 berths will take private yachts of between 10 and 30 metres in length and offer yacht owners the most modern technology available including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and bespoke concierge services.
The leases are available exclusively for owners and residents of Palm Jumeirah. They will be limited to one berth per property and leases will be for a period of five years.
The first berths available will be on the East and West side of Anchor Marina and those interested can register from October 15 with the on-line auction at www.igyauctions.com. Once registered users will be able to browse the site and place bids.
There are also two clubhouses within the marina. The East Clubhouse is aimed at families and the West Clubhouse has a more sophisticated atmosphere with fine dining restaurants.
