Residential development kicks off in Dover

The development of 31 homes is underway in Lydden, Dover, with Kent-based developer Pentland Homes.

The homes will be designed to complement the rural setting and to take advantage of the views across the valley, which overlooks an area of natural beauty and a special area of conservation.

Some of the buildings will have a distinctive flat ridge roof in a nod to the traditional Kent Oast House.

The first eight plots on the 1.45ha brownfield site off Canterbury Road are expected to be completed by December 2020.

Karrina Oki, sales and marketing director, Pentland Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be building new homes in Dover again following the success of our Elysium Park development in Whitfield.

“Lydden is a fantastic rural location, with easy access to Dover which is just two miles away, and the high-speed link to St Pancras.”

Councillor Nick Kenton, Dover District Council’s cabinet member for planning, said: “As we develop the new Local Plan this is an excellent example of how we can work with developers to deliver sensitive development of new homes in rural communities, and bring brownfield sites back into use.”

“We’re delighted that Pentland Homes, as a local developer, continues to see opportunities in the Dover district.”
