Sheffield’s post-lockdown property surge set continue into 2021

A Sheffield-based conveyancing solicitor has seen a massive upsurge in enquiries – and she expects the trend to continue into 2021.

The stamp duty holiday on property purchases up to £500,000 is expected to spur on more people to move until it ends on March 31st 2021.

Caroline Murray, who worked through the last property crash in 2008 and is head of the property team at Graysons.

She said: “We are seeing a variety of reasons and situations leading to activity.

“I’m coming across families that have lost jobs through Covid-19. They are looking to downsize to ease the financial pressure.”

She’s also been dealing with potential buyers who made offers prior to the lockdown.

Murray added: “Offers from lenders are time sensitive and the mortgage that was on the table prior to lockdown may soon be no longer valid – that’s why many people are wanting to move quickly.”
