![]() Investors can seek renovation advice A huge array of advice and information on buying, renovating, seeking planning permission and dealing with building regulations in the UK will be available at a two day show later this month. The Renovation A – Z Weekend, at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon on 24th and 25th May also includes a unique Renovation House. The weekend will provide expert advice and ideas for upgrading, improving and refurbishing property. 'A renovation project can present many problems such as rotten timber, dodgy wiring, leaky roofs and draughty windows,' said Tim Doherty, managing director at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre. The show provides advice about avoiding the pitfalls and mistakes and understanding and interpreting building surveys. Leading industry professionals such as architects, loft experts, design and planning experts and project managers, will be at the seminar. Since the introduction of numerous television programmes about buying an older property and renovating the activity has become increasingly popular and for some, quite lucrative. The renovation market is worth an estimated £15 billion each year, with more than 300,000 planning applications submitted for extensions, refurbishments, conversions and other home improvements. 'Whether its finding a renovation project, valuing and purchasing a property, securing finance, understanding building regulations, tackling problems such as damp or subsidence, restoring original features or finding materials and tools, the Renovation A – Z Weekend has it covered,' added Mr Doherty. 'You can never be too careful when buying an older property, so it's vital to be aware of all the hazards and problems you could encounter, and more importantly, how to deal with them. Our experts and advisors will be on hand to answer any questions and give independent advice to help you make the right decisions about your project,' he concluded.
