Best Golf Development in Europe

The awards, in association with Bloomberg Television, recognise the best residential developments across the globe, and the ceremony was attended by the property industry's foremost developers, agents, architects and interior designers from around the world.

Project Director Catherine Monaghan who collected the award says: "With so many other outstanding golf resorts around, we are genuinely delighted to have won the European Award for Best Golf Development. The outstanding two golf courses at the K Club, together with the award-winning K Spa and luxury properties, makes it an ideal choice for golfers and families who want a luxury home away from home."

The K Club is a 550-acre estate characterised by a magnificent 18th century chateau-style hotel, in County Kildare, just south of Dublin. Firstlight offers buyers the opportunity to buy into an exceptional lifestyle on the estate, with access to two championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer, the K Spa, country pursuits and children's activity club, through shared ownership of luxury properties in the grounds. Introductory prices for the properties range from €131,500 (£108,100) for an eighth share in a 2 bedroom apartment (1215 sq. ft.) and go up to €330,000 (£273, 745) for a 4 bedroom house (3,800 sq.ft).

The K Club hosted the last European Ryder Cup in 2006, in addition to 14 European Opens. As well as attracting the world's greatest golfers to its fairway – from Tiger Woods to Darren Clarke – many of the world's most famous faces have visited the legendary retreat, from Sean Connery, Jack Nicolson, Michael Douglas, George Bush (senior), David and Victoria Beckham, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.

Entries were judged by a panel of professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is second to none and unsurpassed by any other property awards. This year's judges included Ben Wood, industry head property markets of Google UK; Peter Bolton King, group chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals; Fiona Nixon, chairman of the Australia Institute of Architects, Hendrik Nelde, president of FIABCI Belgium; Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes Luxury Collection magazine and Sven Johns, CEO of the German Real Estate Association.
