The UK’s safest and riskiest locations to buy

Gloucestershire is the safest place to buy a home, based on crime rates including sexual offences and robbery.

Property buying company Good Move said other very safe areas are North Yorkshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and Devon/Cornwall.

At the other end of the spectrum West Yorkshire – which includes cities like Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield – is apparently the least safe.

Other risky areas are Cleveland, Humberside, Northumbria and Kent.

If you’re buying property in riskier areas Good Move recommended investing in good floodlights and CCTV – which act as a deterrent and could be used by the police or a court to catch a criminal.
